For the students at Hempfield Area, lunch is often the most anticipated period of the day. This period allows students to connect with their friends and energizes them for the rest of their learning experience. However, our lunches are made better by the wonderful women who help to prepare our food. High School Food Service Employees greet every student with a smile and take pride in preparing delicious meals for hundreds of students each day.
It’s no wonder that they were recognized in a competition hosted by 100.7 Star called, “The Battle of the Lunch Ladies,” where they even made it to the semi-final round. Their nominated dish, the hot honey pizza, is an extremely popular choice. Some addition sought after dishes on the lunch calendar include, the walking taco, popcorn chicken bowl, and Italian Dunkers. These incredible human beings also spend their mornings providing students with a free breakfast during activity period.
Our Food Service Employees remember students’ names and make sure they are well nourished when preparing their meals. They create an inspiring atmosphere that acts as the highlight of our days. All they ask is for us to, “say please and thank you, and [for students to] not cut in line.” These simple requests make a world of difference for individuals who always put students first.
