Join Hempfield Area High School’s National Art Honor Society and Mud Club in the Fight Against Hunger – Empty Bowl Event. All proceeds go directly to Westmoreland County Food bank and will help our local community. In the words of Reverend David Beckmann, president of Alliance to End Hunger “It is important for people to realize that we can make progress against world hunger, that world hunger is not hopeless. The worst enemy is apathy.” Together our school and community can make a positive impact in the fight against hunger.
The event will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2025 , from 12 pm to 4 pm, in the HAHS cafeteria.
In preparation, students have been creating bowls in the ceramics room, reaching out to sponsors and other districts, as well as organizing food donations, and doing lots and lots of planning. The actual event will consist of community members coming together to eat good food, listen to music, and participate in raffle basket auctions. Attendees will also be able to view the high school student art show in advance and take a student handmade ceramic bowl from the event.

Again, “We must act together, as a united people… For the birth of a new world. Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all,” said Patricia Young, World Food Day Coordinator. Hempfield Area is excited and proud to coordinate and host this event. Time to fight back against world hunger.
