Greensburg is the heart of Westmoreland County. It’s a community of small businesses, where entrepreneurs work together to breathe life into our town. The Downtown Greensburg Project was recently established to bring small businesses together for events and activities.
Hempfield Area students from the Spartan Planning Committee and The Royal visited a few hidden gems. Many students weren’t aware of half of the businesses that they visited, making the trip more meaningful and adventurous. It happens all too often that people get caught up traveling to far away places chasing that perfect destination, but it’s important to remember that the perfect destination might be right in front of us, in a place we call home. On November 1, Hempfield students realized just that.
From Main Street to South Pennsylvania Ave, Hempfield Area students perused, sampled, and explored a place we call home. They heard about Nico’s journey to open his cafe, got caffeinated at Cutie’s, ventured out shops like Stone Age Collections, Millie’s Ice Cream, RSVP Gifts and More, and Cafe Barista, found beauty at Rustic Candle Co., The Westmoreland Art Museum, and The Trendy Bunny Studio and Play Cafe, discovered the opportunities available at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, enjoyed a delicious lunch at Sittay’s Mediterranean Kitchen and Yellowbridge, tasted sweetness at Main Street Sweets and Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream, and found appreciation for Downtown Greensburg, for small businesses, and for our local entrepreneurs.
Enjoy our little glimpse of Greensburg, and this season, remember to be thankful.
