Sittay’s Mediterranean Kitchen
By Miah Benz
During the Thankful for Greensburg Field Trip, we had the opportunity to try Sittay’s Mediterranean Kitchen, and we definitely owe them all a huge thank you. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by smiles and an aroma of delicious spices. Owner Radah Ghasah generously made some of their most popular dishes for us all to sample. Sittay’s serves traditional Syrian food such as, pita bread with their regular hummus along with eggplant hummus, grape leaves filled with rice and lamb, their famous falafels, and potato cubes. Everything was not only delicious and beautifully decorated but also made with love and fresh ingredients.
Sittay’s is located at 33 E. Pittsburgh St. Ghasah immigrated from Syria in 2000 to share her healthy traditional cuisine with Greensburg. She values making everything fresh and with the same style in which her grandmother and mom used to cook. In fact, the potatoes, which were my personal favorite, were her mom’s exact recipe. Greensburg is lucky to have this unique, healthy, fresh, and nontraditional restaurant as a dining option. Go visit them from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

YellowBridge
By Owen Buchholz
Owner Ian Staab opened Yellow Bridge in Delmont in 2016 as a brewery. It wasn’t until he became friends with a pizza truck owner that he got into the pizza business. During COVID, Staab bought a small pizza oven, where he would have pizza nights twice a month at the brewery. Three hours of work made 25-30 pies that sold out in half an hour. Because of the popularity, Staab decided that he had enough traction to take his pizza business to the next level.
Growing up in Greensburg and being a Greensburg Salem alumnus, Staab wanted to share his business with his home town. He then expanded Yellow Bridge Brewing to another location in Downtown Greensburg, where he hired another pizza chef. Now, both the Delmont location and Greensburg location sell pizza, with the Greensburg building’s kitchen being twice the size.
Yellow Bridge offers a multitude of Artisan style pizzas that are full of great ingredients, a crispy bottom, and charred edges. They do sell plain cheese and pepperoni pies, but they also sell an amazing variety of specialty pizzas as well, including our favorite, The Pepperoni Moderno. “It’s like an extra pepperoni pizza,” says Staab, “but then we finish it with arugula, a little bit of balsamic glaze, hot honey, and pecorino romano stacked on top of the peperoni.”
Recently, Ianni’s Pizzeria, another pizza shop in Delmont, tragically caught fire and has temporarily closed for the foreseeable future. Yellowbridge, along with other pizza shops in the Delmont area, have come together to help raise money for the workers at Ianni’s and have been successful in doing so. Around $1,800 have been raised by this so-called “pizza community,” which goes as a testament to all the pizza business owners who go out of their way to support one another in times of need.
With our stomachs full, we must note that we are thankful for Yellow Bridge, where we’d definitely “stay for the pizza.”
