For the Kids Take-2

Mini-THON is back
For the Kids Take-2

Hempfield Area Mini Thon is back in full swing with a whole plethora of events planned for the year. Some exciting ones coming soon are the Pink with Trim Game, The Spartan Spooktacular, Color Run, and The Spartan Extravaganza. Club Sponsor Mrs. Testa said, “Not only are we aiding kids fighting pediatric cancer, but we are coming together as a school and community to bond and have fun”. Mini-Thon was started at Penn State and has now branched to high schools all over America to raise money for childhood cancer research. The new student administration for the 2024 year have taken office and are beginning to get everyone sorted into their own teams of 10.

These teams will start fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the final dance-a-thon on April 5th. That day all students will stand and dance for 12 hours partaking in activities such as the most notable “Dodge For Diamonds”.

Last year was a great start with 181 students joining the cause and over $57,000 raised. It allows us as Mini-Thon members to continue the things that  were fantastic and change some of the things that didn’t work so well to get the best possible outcome. Our new overall leader, Malea Nadeo, seems to have high expectations for this year saying, “Now that more students in the community know about Mini-Thon and want to participate, we hopefully will be able to surpass our total for last year with plenty of fun”.

Anyone who has the opportunity to get involved definitely should because at the end of the day, it’s for an amazing cause that unites our school with a common goal. We know it’s all #forthekids.
