The sentiment “I Believe” has been a staple at Hempfield Area sporting events and rings even more true throughout the holiday seasons. These two words exist as a simple sentence that holds a world of spirit, warmth, and memories. They express a desire for something beautiful to happen, whether it be a Spartan win, Mom’s homemade cookies, or presents wrapped and placed under a brightly lit tree. The holiday season is a time for family, friends, and happiness and believing in the spirit of Christmas is an essential factor in preserving holiday joy.
As we have gotten older, Christmas has begun to look a little different for us.
Our gifts have changed from toys to more practical things, and Santa no longer eats the cookies that were once left out, but that same excitement and warmth can still emanate throughout the holiday season. Whether that’s through watching a Christmas movie with your family, exchanging gifts, or getting to go skiing with your friends, joy can be shared and spread.
Though it seems like an important part of our childhood has closed, the season for believing will forever stay prominent throughout our lives no matter the circumstances. Reality or not, the idea of Santa is one that brings back memories of the past, the joys of the present, and the love that future holidays hold. It is up to us to believe, and if we choose to do so, good things will occur. As Mr. Davis says, “I was hunting in the season of believing, then boom a 7 point”. The holiday season is not just about receiving; it’s about believing, no matter what. That’s how wishes come true.
