Junior Mia Catone was honored as Hempfield Area High School’s first Spartan of the Month in September of 2024. According to administration, Catone consistently demonstrates the high school’s 4 P’s: prompt, prepared, polite, and proud. She was nominated by faculty for her school spirit shown when she sang the national anthem at the opening in-service day.
When Mia found out she was chosen, she said, “I didn’t expect it at all. I was so shocked, but it made me feel honored.” Mia was the perfect pick for many reasons. In school alone, she is part of Science National Honors Society, Rho Kappa, Music Honors Society, Theater Honors Society, Choir, and Show Choir. Mia is very passionate about theater; she has been in every school play, and she is also involved in community theater outside of school. With so much going on and theater taking up a lot of her time, her calendar rarely open. However, when she does have free time, she enjoys working out, hiking, yoga, signing, dancing, and reading. Mia also loves spending time with her family, especially her two older brothers and an older sister.
She thanks her parents and siblings for always supporting and influencing her to become the person she is today. Mia is a very well rounded person who has many goals in life. One of them is to have an impact on others in whatever way she can. Mia said “ It doesn’t have to be big, but I have been impacted by many people in my life. My goal is to be able to do the same and help others in whatever way I can.” Congratulations to Mia Catone, a Spartan through and through.
