For The Love Of Love

The month of February is known as the season of love. But what is love to some people? Is it a feeling about a person? Or could love be anything? We asked the students of Hempfield Area High School what love means to them, and the responses did not disappoint.

“Love is when Calculus is over.” – Malea Nadeo

“Love is family.” – Mrs. Owens

“Love is feeling like you’re home.” – Miah Bentz

“Love is when you look at someone truly different than anyone else.” – Quentin Pettinato

“Love is the small things.” – Abby Harvey

“Love is finding the other half of your soul.” – Tanner Collins

“Love is the experiences you want to share with someone.” – Alyssa Manderach

“Love is caring for someone more than you care for yourself.” – Kayden Phillips

“Loving someone for today is a feeling, loving someone for tomorrow is a choice, loving someone them for always is a mixture of the two weaved effortlessly and with great toil of heart.” – Mrs. Testa

As we celebrate, its clear love means somehing differently to all, and yet it is a universal feeling that we can all understand.

Quentin Pettinato, Contributor

Quentin Pettinato is sixteen years old and a junior at Hempfield Area High School. He is a soccer varsity captain along with Junior Nathan Tonini and Sophmore Braden Crowe. He enjoys mountain biking with his Dad and takes joy in going to the movies with his friends whenever he can. Quentin plans to be a sports journalist after he graduates from Hempfield. He got into journalism after watching soccer show Ted Lasso. His favorite character, "Trent Crimm" is a respected journalist for the premier league. Quentin's motto is that "It is what it is", and whatever it is, he will report it.

"Beautiful in my opinion has nothing to do with looks. It's how you are as a person and how you make others feel about themselves." The Notebook of Life created this quote, and it is something that Miah Bentz believes in with her whole heart. Miah loves spreading positivity and uplifting others in any way she can. She has been a student in the Hempfield Area School District since kindergarten and is now a junior in high school. She has a strong passion for volleyball as she is a member of the Hempfield Area girls volleyball team and plays travel all winter long. She also loves making art, listening to music, and reading and writing poetry. Her hope this school year is to share positive stories about life at Hempfield that will brighten the days of and inspire others in the community.

Abby has been attending the Hempfield Area School District for 11 years. From a young age, she has had a passion for writing. She loves going on adventures with her friends and family, finding a new experience everyday! It's even better when she gets to write about it. She loves to watch live sports, more specifically the fantastic Friday Night Lights and hockey at Hempfield Area or professional hockey! She looks forward to providing Hempfield with stories to inform and entertain! Like Taylor Swift says, “When I get on a roll with something, it’s really hard for me to put it down unfinished.” ♥
