Science National Honors Society Induction

On January 30, 2024, there were 39 elite science students inducted into Science National Honors Society (SNHS).

In the club, students help to spread the word of sciences and volunteer to make the environment a better place. SNHS members complete campus cleanups, participate in community service events, and attend science related events.

At the induction, there were three experiments that demonstrated the different AP sciences. After the last experiment was completed, the inductees got to turn in their beakers and get their certificates.

Unlike most other honor society induction ceremonies, this one was unique. The format of most ceremonies is the same: you walk across the stage, sign the book, receive your awards, and the ceremony ends soon after. Nevertheless, since the honor society now has all-new officers and sponsors, we made the event enjoyable for everyone. Weeks were spent by the officers organizing and planning the ceremony; we developed three scientific demonstrations (based on the three core sciences), in which the inductees were able to take part. Witnessing the success of our efforts come to pass when the members were admitted was truly fulfilling.

Born in Latrobe but raised in Greensburg, Laci Nease is the Public Relations Officer for Hempfields' National English Honors Society, Secretary for Project 18, Editor for Journalism, and is apart of a youth mentor program involved through Wendover Middle School. She fills her life with work, friends, and family. When she is not taking photos for the Hempfield football team, Journalism, and Mini-THON, Laci enjoys hiking with her friends and family at Ohiopyle, playing dominos with her grandparents, and working two jobs- so she can start saving for college. If Laci is not working one of her two jobs and is not at school, then she is most likely at the gym learning about her mental and physical health, or she is digging through her closet to find clothes, shoes, and other accessories to sell and donate. In future years, she hopes to go to college to get her bachelors degree in accounting and finance and her associates degree in communications.
