Five Hempfield Students signed their National Letter of Intention to continue their academic and athletic career at the collegiate level. Those students include Eli Carr, Maggie Dougherty, Emma Fetsco, Maggie Howard, and Peyton Murray.
Carr, who is taking his talents to Brown University to wrestle, is the 2023 WPIAL champion in the 139-lb weight class, and has a varsity record of 77-15, and finished 4th in the state last year.
Dougherty is committing to University of Miami Ohio, for javelin. Dougherty qualified for the WPIAL Track and Field championship.
Fetsco is committing to Notre Dame College as a girls lacrosse goalie.
Howard, who has committed to Georgetown for softball, helped lead the Spartans to a WPIAL championship and a state championship appearance.
Murray is committing to Notre Dame over other large schools like Penn State, Indiana, Iowa, and more. Murray is a two time WPIAL champion for discus and was the runner up in shot put last spring. Last year, he went on to become a State champion in discus and was the runner up in shot put.
Congratulations to all five of our Spartan Athletes who are moving to the next level in post-secondary athletics.
