Hempfield Area Senior High School’s choir was at Penn-Trafford High School from November 20th to 21st for County Chorus. It was hosted by Choir Director, Jeff Fox. The event was arranged with the Westmoreland County Music Educators Association. WCMEA is a county organization of certified music teachers of public and parochial schools, and institutions of higher learning all working together to improve music. Through festivals sponsored by WCMEA, school musicians have acquired valuable and inspirational musical experiences. They have had the rare privilege of working under the leadership of some of the country’s finest musicians and directors. The WCMEA is affiliated with the National Association for Music Education.
County Chorus was a great opportunity for our choir to showcase their talents and make new friends. The high school chorale sang songs written by composers with different backgrounds, including Latin and Nigerian. They sang a plethora of songs such as: “E Oro U,” “It’s You I Like,” and “Persevera et Supera.”
Seniors Ainslee Bailey and Sophia Cecchetti loved County Chorus because they got to meet musicians from other schools, and got that opportunity to sing with other like-minded individuals. Senior Mia Catone didn’t just love the opportunity to come together and sing with other choir members from all over Westmoreland county, but also the food.
Westmoreland County Chorus members greatly appreciated this chance to meet other chorus members from a bunch of different schools, joining together to do what they all love: sing.
