As the Hempfield Area School district enters a new school year, along with it comes a brand new musical! While the official title was still under wraps, a few tantalizing clues were being dropped on the musical’s Google classroom, as well as Instagram.
Some students believed the play would be a modern, pop-culture production like The Adams Family which was performed back in the 2023-2024 school year, whilst others speculated that it would be a classic piece such as last year’s production Anything Goes.
While students waited anxiously, the theater team continue to encourage students to get involved. “Being in the fall play or the spring musical is an amazing opportunity to meet new people, try something different, and gain incredible experiences, whether you are on or off the stage,” Mrs. Kertoy said. “Theater lends itself to so many careers. You will become more confident, gain new skill sets, and learn to work in a team”. To those skeptical about getting joining, wonderful experiences, friendships, and opportunities await, so please don’t hesitate to indulge in this musical mystery and have a fun time on stage!
Finally, after weeks of speculation, the big secret came out: this year’s musical will be Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat! Whether you guessed it or not, the excitement is undeniable. With its colorful costumes, upbeat music, and ensemble numbers, this performance is bound to be a crowd-pleaser. The clues kept us guessing, but now the countdown to opening night has begun.
