What goes along better with Christmas than a home baked cookie? As sugar, eggs, and flour are mixed together, they are also infused with love. This sentence holds true for the cookies that are baked by junior Gianna Moore.
Freshman year looked a little different for Moore, an avid athlete participating on the Hempfield Area track teams. During her freshman year track season, she tore her ACL and was left with no sports or activities to attend after school. Quickly, she got to thinking about what she could do to fill her time. Without hesitation, she got to baking!
Her baking journey started by bringing in a few dozen cookies for her close friends. Then, more and more people began trying her cookies, and they were so loved that she started to bring in more! She created a baking schedule where she would bring in about two hundred cookies every Friday. When asked why she does this, she says “I like to see how it brightens people’s days.” She bases the cookie flavors off of what month it is. For example, it’s December, so she made snowball cookies coated in powdered sugar.
Now that Gianna has recovered from her ACL injury, she has limited her baking schedule to the last Friday of every month. If you’re in the seventh period lunch, you are probably familiar with her delicious cookies, as she passes them out to almost every table!
The Hempfield Royal wants to send Gianna Moore a huge thank you for bringing in her tasty cookies for everyone to enjoy and for bringing in a small morsel of holiday magic this Christmas season.
