In the words of Jacqueline Cooper, “just as the sun rises, a fresh start begins. We all have a choice. Will you make the best of it?” As dawn rose on the beginning of our final chapter of high school, the class of 2025 gathered together on the water tower field to watch the sunrise over what has been our home for the past three- almost four- years.
Today, I share a reminder that I feel is important for all of us to keep in mind. As we step foot into the beginning of our year of lasts, I hope we can let this sunrise symbolize a fresh start to all the memories we are about to make in our remaining days at Hempfield Area High School. Let the sun’s light guide us into our bright futures, and please, please— please, make the best of it. Take part in all the fun things this year has to offer. Get involved, plan things with your friends, keep in touch with The Royal to see all the things that are going on at your school, and just have fun.
This year is a celebration of how far we have come. Stop and take it all in every once in a while, and remember to enjoy the ride because before we are ready, it will be time for senior sunset. Our high school years will be over, a bittersweet moment. Still, as Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us, “Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.”
And just like that we are onto the next big chapter of our lives. Make the best of it.
