On August 31 – September 2, the Hempfield Area High School Cross Country team traveled to Washington D.C. for an invitational meet. Twenty schools competed at the invitational. They had a very successful meet, with the girls team placing 5th, and the boys team placing 8th. Sophomore Maddie Black comments, “I had a lot of fun, and it was a good experience with my team”.

While the team was at the capitol, they got to experience and see the history of the buildings like the District of Columbia Court and United States Supreme Court Building. The team also got the opportunity to tour the White House and saw the public rooms in the east wing including blue room, red room, and green room. As the team ran cross country, they got to see how the country runs as well.
