Brock Heisler, who plays defensive line for Hempfield Area High School, officially committed to Harvard University in June of 2025. Brock has enthusiastically played football since he was six-years-old and fell in love with the sport because of the connections he’s made with his team members, which he says will remain with him for his whole life.
During his junior year homecoming game, Hempfield Area defeated their rivals, Norwin, on their home field. After the win, the student section rushed the field to sing the alma mater alongside the triumphant team, a moment that Brock describes as his favorite football memory.
Now though, he is incredibly excited to continue his journey when he officially joins the Harvard football team in the Fall of 2026.
When interviewed, Brock said it felt like a dream to become part of such a long-standing football tradition. He considered several colleges, but ultimately felt that Harvard was the best fit because of the people. The coaches and players he met during his visit made him feel welcome and at home. Additionally, he found that Boston and its surroundings offer an ideal environment for him.
Harvard’s reputation for academic excellence naturally comes with the challenge of balancing rigorous coursework and athletic demands. Brock plans to manage these pressures by maintaining equal focus on both academics and sports while also setting aside time for activities he enjoys, helping him stay grounded and calm.
His biggest inspiration comes from his parents, whose hard work and support have given him the best opportunities possible. He says he feels driven to repay them by giving his all and working hard to achieve his many goals. His advice to aspiring athletes is to always work hard, and opportunities will come to those who do.
Congratulations to Brock as he enters the Ivy League world!
