Orange could be the color of fall.
In its many shades,
It represents so many things.
It’s the color of the leaves that dance down from the trees
As the cool breeze blows by.
It’s the color of the sunrise
As you wake up for school once again,
As you get used to this sudden, early schedule.
It’s the color of the pumpkins carved in late October,
The pumpkins that glow and laugh in the dark of night.
It is the flame in the fireplace
As you try to keep warm,
As the temperature drops slowly
On its way into winter.
It’s the color of the flame of a candle
And not only the color of pumpkins
But the color of the flavor of pumpkin spice,
The smell that follows the season
Into every corner.
And with its many shades,
With its smell, touch, sound, taste, time,
The color of the season, it’s clear,
Is meant to be no other
Than orange.
