Sugar Rush

Opened three years ago, Main Street Sweets is a Greensburg gem for anyone craving candy and milkshakes. Owner Nicole Nickischer started it with a simple idea, transforming an empty space into a colorful room for sweets. While originally planning to offer just candy, Nichisher quickly expanded to include milkshakes, each with creative names to match the flavors. Gram’s Banana Cream Pie pays tribute to Nickischer’s grandmother, while fan favorites like Death by Chocolate and Campfire keep locals coming back.
Partnering with Kerber’s Dairy for unique ice cream flavors, the shop offers seasonal shakes, weekly specials, and festive treats like hot chocolate. Recently remodeled with a pastel look, Main Street Sweets also supports local high school teams and loves hosting giveaways for the community. Nickischer’s favorite shake to make? The Unicorn, complete with cotton candy, unicorn sprinkles, and a unicorn lollipop on top. You can find them on Main Street or at their new location in Westmoreland Mall. For a fun and delicious experience, Main Street Sweets is a must-visit!

Bonappetit

Nico’s Bakery and Cafe is a pretty pastry shop on the corner of West Pittsburgh Street in Downtown Greensburg. It is filled to the brim with culture. Immediately upon entry, it’s as if you are transported to Stawsburg, France smelling the freshly made items, and no matter which pastry you choose, you know it’s certain to be made from scratch.
As you savor your decadent items and perhaps a warm brew, patrons may watch Nico and his bakery chefs hone their craft through the little window peering into the kitchen. Nico himself has lived a life filled with culture. He was born in Stawsburg, France after which he moved to Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Missouri, New York City, Virginia, and finally found his home here in Greensburg.
The shop was opened six months ago when Nico sold his house to start up the business, showing his true passion for the art of baking. Wherever Nico has been or will be, we are thankful that he brought a little bit of Stawsburg, France in our small town of Greensburg.
You Look Cute

As holiday decorations and menus make their debut, Cutie’s Coffee Company is no exception. As Hempfield Area students entered the shop, we were overcome with the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the boho chic design, and friendly faces that made the small space feel warm.
Cutie’s is very excited about their Holiday Menu launched on November 2nd with new specials and holiday flavors. Their menu includes a plethora of different lattes, cold brews, steamers, and shaken espressos. As they switch modes from pumpkin, spice, and anything nice, their new holiday items include many of their drinks now flavored sugar cookie, gingerbread, and even peppermint!
With this holiday launch, new embroidered crewnecks have also arrived decorated with gingerbread men, ornaments, candy canes, and more. The clothing isn’t the only thing accessorized as the inside of Cutie’s is now filled with garland and trees.
During this holiday season, Cutie’s wanted to give back to those who aren’t as fortunate. Their owner, Kait Dronzek, started by collecting Christmas lists from children in foster care around Greensburg and added three things from each Christmas list onto a card. Each card is placed on a tree inside the building, and anyone can take one to sponsor and create magic for one of these children. Items and cards should be returned by December 15th.
Beyond all things festive, Cutie’s Coffee has been very thrilled with their success thus far. At first, they were worried about the location, but the traffic from people going onto Route 30 has eased their concern. Dronzek says “it’s been perfect, and we honestly couldn’t be more grateful.”
This gratitude is felt by all who frequently visit the shop, which is now becoming one of Greensburg’s staples for people of all ages. We are certainly thankful for Cutie’s. Be sure to stop by at 243 W Otterman St in Greensburg and tag @HempfieldAreaRoyal – #ThankfulforGreensburg with your next purchase of delectable drinks.
