Welcome to Westmoreland

At the end of last month, Hempfield Area students went on a journey to visit small businesses and locations in Greensburg to learn more about our community and how local businesses operate. Students had the opportunity to interview business owners and employees to learn about their jobs and experiences. The trip gave students a chance to practice communication skills while also exploring the city.

The day started at Caleese Coffee, where students enjoyed drinks and learned more about new start ups. Next up was Green Beacon Gallery, where students explored the unique artwork, followed by a series of shops, and a mind bending 60 Minute Missions Escape Room challenge.

Later, students ate lunch at The Pourhouse and Sittay’s Mediterranean Kitchen. To end the trip, the classes met at the Westmoreland County sign for a group photo before a visit to Honey Bee Bubble Tea and Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream. Students also toured the The Palace Theatre, including backstage and the main stage looks, before returning to school.

At the end of the day, we are so thankful for our small town, our small businesses, and the big opportunities that are right here at home. Stay tuned as we feature each location and remember to be #thankfulforgreensburg.
