The Hempfield Area cheerleading team continues to make its mark this season with a high energy sharp routine, and a strong sense of unity. Whether they’re on the sidelines at football and basketball games or competing at states, the team brings a level of spirit that lifts both athletes and fans. Their dedication shows in every stunt, chant, and halftime routine, all backed by hours of practice and teamwork.
Although the entire team is focused on performing their best, some cheerleaders have set personal goals for the season. Junior Madison Courtney hopes to walk away with at least one gold medal and to “hit” their routine at every major competition. A hit means that all skills go, and work. This includes stunts and tumbling and would be considered their best possible routine. The big competitions the team takes place in this year are WPIALS, followed by PIAA states and nationals, NHSCC, in early February. Senior Ava Lebin hopes to finish out her cheerleading career working together with her team.
The team has been putting in intense hours of practice behind the scenes, before and after their sideline performances, as they push toward earning another championship title. For years, Hempfield Cheer built a reputation as a powerhouse program, winning 4 straight WPIAL titles and establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the area. Although they
didn’t finish where they hoped last year, that setback only fueled their fire. With a new season, new routine, and a hunger to reclaim their spot at the top, the team is hoping to bring home another win on December 20th.
