Students ready to go on the trip
Every year, Hempfield Area United Spartans partner with the Westmoreland Bureau of Parks and Recreation and other districts for “You’ve Got a Friend Day”. Students buddy up for carnival rides, paddle boats, fishing, and more!
This year’s “You’ve Got a Friend Day” was hosted on October 1st at its usual spot, Twin Lakes. United Spartans filled all 26 allotted spots with students who are dedicated to making a difference in our community. These students were able to make meaningful connections and gain new experiences.
Mrs. Kertoy says, “Some of our United Spartan members that attended plan to work in special education or speech pathology, so this was something they will carry with them in their futures”.
It is events like these that truly allow students to make a difference. Kertoy further reflected on the event saying, “this was a tremendous event. It was the perfect weather and all the activities were so engaging…Our high school buddies enjoyed spending the day with their younger buddies.”
United Spartans has been proudly participating for the last three years and plans to continue in the future.
