The Mini-THON admin team after the color run
On a chilly Sunday afternoon, clouds of vibrant color filled the air as students, staff, and community members came together for a cause greater than themselves. The Hempfield Area Mini-THON Color Run wasn’t just a fun-filled event, it was a celebration of hope, unity, and the fight against childhood cancer.
Held on the school’s campus, the Color Run was one of several exciting fundraisers supporting Hempfield Area’s Mini-THON, a student led organization inspired by Penn State’s THON, the largest ran student philanthropy in the world. Mini-THON events raise money for Four Diamonds, an organization that supports families battling pediatric cancer and funds critical cancer research.
Participants wore white shirts, sneakers, and big smiles as they prepared to run the colorful course. Along the way, volunteers were stationed through the path, blasting runners with clouds of color, turning the course into a moving rainbow. With music pumping, laughter echoing, and the sun starting to shine, the event created an electrical atmosphere filled with joy and purpose. For many, the event was more than just a run; it was a way to support children and families affected by cancer, standing with those who fight everyday.
As Senior Lauren Howard (Mini-THON secretary) puts it, “We’re not just throwing color; we’re spreading awareness and money to help kids who really need it.” The Color Run was a huge success in terms of fundraising, with all proceeds going directly towards Four Diamonds.
Events like this are an example of what happens when a community comes together for a shared mission. Whether you ran the course or cheered from the sidelines, every person played a part in bringing color, joy, and hope to a serious cause. With around 100 people showing up and over $1,000 raised, the message was clear: together we can make a difference for the kids. #FTK
