Do you have trouble focusing in class on an empty stomach? Start your day off right and grab a snack to purchase. Come on down to the student store in room 234.
The store is open daily during Period 1, as showcased on the calendar link. Mrs. Fetterman and our lovely group of student volunteers continue to help set up and work the store to create a place for Hempfield Area High School Students.
Plus, the student store is now on wheels! Every period 9 and 10, look out for our student store cart in afternoon study halls.
Student volunteers are decorating, painting, and designing a fun, aesthetically pleasing home for our items. Delaney Vince said, “ I love working with my friends and getting to talk to everybody that comes in.”
Additionally Maylee Rodeheaver was chosen to create a mural on the Student Store wall. She said, “ I chose to help paint the store because I love creating art, and I did not want to pass up an opportunity like this.”
Mrs. Murray’s classroom will also help to run the Student Store carts every period 9. Mrs. Murray says, “ Running a student store is an excellent hands- on learning experience for my students.¨ It is a way for her students to learn valuable skills like handling money, responsibility, and independence.
Items for sale include clips, candy bars, snacks, beef jerky/trail mix, protein options, frappuccinos, Gatorades, sparkling waters, pop, and more. Prices range from $1-$5. Each homeroom will have two passes for students to visit the store, and those involved expect a great turn out.
Mrs. Fetterman, who is the visionary behind the store, elaborated about what she hopes students will get out of this experience and how the high school will benefit as a whole. “I really feel as though students will have a central location to grab their favorite snacks and drinks, and it will help fund our school-wide goals. Students working the store will learn valuable skills such as organization, responsibility, accountability, and other business skills.
