On Tuesday, February 11th, three members of our Spartan Unified Bocce team were honored during senior night in the Old Gym. A section of the Spartan Pep Band led by Mr. Kealey, attended to hype up the crowd and teams. Our seniors: Aidan Sturnick, Abbey Zoglmann, and Megan Crowe, and the seniors of the Mt. Pleasant Area Vikings were treated to gifts, senior posters, and special recognition. A human “tunnel” was formed by teachers and administrators while the students received their gifts. In addition, the game was initiated with a beautiful rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” by the team’s very own Megan Crowe.
Many members of the Hempfield administration team such as: Dr. Holtzman, Dr. Palmer, Dr. Bevard, Mrs. Mash, and Dr. Proudfit were proud to present the team with their gifts. Over 100+ fans were in attendance to cheer on the athletes for Senior Night. The teams were tied after the first two rounds, but Hempfield Area ultimately lost to Mt Pleasant, 4-2.
Our spectacular Spartans had an especially successful season this year including qualifying for playoffs! But the team spirit spread beyond the gymnasium. Mrs. Montell is especially proud of, “all the friendships that have happened because of Unified Sports and hearing stories of some of the friends now hanging out outside of school.”
Congratulations to our amazing athletes for a truly spectacular performance this season!
