“Building” A Legacy

Three Legacies Carry A Program
"Building" A Legacy

What builds a legacy? What creates a legacy with an impact? The legacy that Mark Sipos has left on this school is truly unmatched. From “new guy in the building” to one of the most beloved people in the community, he will truly be remembered forever. In his memory, President Vincent Delo and club supervisor Mr. Siniawski are doing everything they can to keep his legacy intact, while also building their own legacies.

As of right now in 2025, Mr. Siniawski and Bots IQ are building their two bots they will be using this year. Mr. Siniawski split up the team into two groups, the sophomores and the veterans. The sophomores are fixing mistakes and making slight modifications to Mr. Wiggles, the bot from last year. The veterans are working on creating a new bot called, “A Different Animal”. The veteran team is also split up into two groups, machinery and 3D-design. While the 3D-design group is making the outline of the new bot, the machinery group is making the physical attributes of it.

For both the sophomores and the veterans, there are four main systems within each bot, and they each have its own team working on them. The four main systems within the bot are the chassis, weapon, drive, and electrical. The chassis team is responsible for designing the main frame that will have to be strong enough to support, protect, and house all the main drive, weapon, and electrical systems. The weapon team has to craft a fully functioning weapon that is effective and powerful relative to its overall size and mass. The drive team develops an efficient and powerful 2-wheel drive system that fits within the parameters of the chassis and the constraints of manufactured components. The electrical team is in charge of wiring electronic components for the robot’s drive and weapon systems.

Bots IQ President senior Vincent Delo and club supervisor Mr. Siniawski are building legacies of their own. Vincent spent four years as a member of in Bots IQ. He started as a freshman, learning the ropes, to President in his senior year teaching the incoming sophomores. “I think the sophomores have a lot of potential down the road. Them being passionate about Bots IQ will make their experience even better,” Delo said.

With 16 years under his belt, Mr. Siniawski has brought award after award to HAHS. But, it’s not the awards that make Mr. Siniawski a great teacher; rather, it’s the way he can connect with the students to make them want to thrive and perform under pressure. Having Mr. Siniawski as a teacher makes you want to be not just a better student, but a better person. That’s why Mr. Siniawski will leave his is own legacy here at HAHS.
